Based in Danvers, Mass., the General Lighting unit manufactures incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lamps at seven plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It provides general and specialty lighting sales, marketing and distribution services throughout the U.S. to industrial, commercial and retail customers and to original equipment and other lamp manufacturers. This business unit also has a centralized customer support organization located in Westfield, Ind.

The General Lighting business unit has five sales channels. The Industrial Commercial group markets a wide variety of SYLVANIA lamps and ballasts, which are sold to industrial and commercial customers through a nationwide network of independent electrical distributors. Consumer Products sells SYLVANIA household lamps through retail stores to residential customers. The Special Markets channel is responsible for specialty manufacturers and distributors, other lighting manufacturers, and export while the OEM, or original equipment manufacturer, channel sells lamps and ballasts to lighting fixture manufacturers.

The fifth sales channel, SYLVANIA LIGHTING SERVICES CORP., provides preventative maintenance and energy management programs for indoor and outdoor lighting systems in stores, office buildings, warehouses, factories and other locations.

The mySYLVANIA.com Extranet offers a personalized online workplace and community for over 10,000 customers, business partners, contractors, and specifiers in the United States. mySYLVANIA.com provides registered users access to information on business lighting, automotive lighting, electronic control systems, and photo-optic products and services.
